Welcome.

What does one put on an "About Me" page when the only reason - at least initially - I have this Web site is to to experiment with the open source CMS system called Drupal?

Why?

Well, I guess that's a good place to start. I developed this site to experiment with Drupal, which is the same system I'm using in my current job to help develop our travel web site.  A lot of what you'll see on www.johnvasko.com is in the experimental stage, meaning things will not necessarily look as I hope they will at some point.

What?

What will I put on here? Well, mostly recent photos and slideshows and and anything in the news that catches my eye. The latter will be shown in the form of a blog, which I have no idea how often I'll update! Time will tell.

Who am I?

Most of you know that I'm 43-year-old white male and I live in New York's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood with my lovely parter Adi. I work in digital media for a company embedded in print legacy. We're building a new site in Drupal and I'm heavily involved in its design and architecture. It's an exciting project, especially because we're working with the Open Source Community. Most of you who know me that I'm not just about work. Although I have to be inspired by my job, there's a lot more in life that inspires me.

What Inspires Me?

I'll start with Adi, my partner of 4 years, who daily gives me inspiration with his fun sense of humor and his positive perspective on the sometimes tough world we live in. We just moved in together last October and you can see our new apartment here on this site. Perusing through this site, you'll see my interests are about many things odd and quirky, technology and all things Internet, pop music, film, politics, tv shows from here and abroad. I also want to use this site to show off fun times with friends and family via photos. Hope you'll enjoy.
