One of the reasons I love New York is Clearview Chelsea's Classic Cinema Night, which takes place every Thursday. It's one of the few places where a 1970 B Film starring Joan Crawford could earn more profits than all of the other shows in the cineplex combined. The theater was full and Hedda Lettuce's commentary throughout the film was priceless. And she gave away some great prizes. Next week they're showing Mildred Pierce, Joan Crawford at her finest. Trog is also one of her finest works as well but for a completely different reason - Laugh-Out-Loud hilarity at the absurdity that such a film was ever made and that this bonafide Hollywood star actually played the lead role as one of the world's top scientists.

Three younger scientists discover the "missing link" Trog in a cave in England. When one of them is killed by the half man / half beast, Trog is captured and then studied by Joan and her team. The university town wants him dead. Joan believes there is much to be learned from Trog, as she teaches him how to play with dolls. The trailer sells this film as horror, but it is clearly one of the best comedies ever made. And even better when seen with a group of people.
